Careers utilizing an English college degree can range from teaching high school through college.  A B.A. and/or master's English college degree are necessary for teaching as well as a teaching license. Teacher education is constantly changing with the creation of new ways of teaching.  Many teachers work more than 40 hours a week teaching school. During summer months, some teachers continue their teaching education at colleges to learn more.

Writers and editors produce an ample variety of written materials delivered to an audience in growing list of communication channels. English classes allow for one to develop content through channels such as listeners, readers, and viewers. English courses vary from large lecture classes to more in-depth studies with focus on particular writers or topics.  English classes in creative writing include essay writing, fiction, playwriting, poetry, and screenwriting. An English class in literature also allows for one to conceptualize an abstract way of looking at life and the world.
